Airtable: An advanced spreadsheet for your teams
Airtable is a project management solution that allows individuals and teams to organize and track their information. This data includes but is not limited to contacts, task lists, projects, inventory, and more. Airtable is an advanced spreadsheet to provide a highly customizable platform that can adjust to many use cases.
With Airtable, users can create advanced spreadsheets to organize their data and streamline their processes. It helps you build customizable views of data to organize your data. It also offers many integration options with other tools including Zapier, Slack, and Google Drive, for project workflow automation.
While Airtable is great for organizing your data in advanced spreadsheets, it also has some limitations and downsides. Airtable isn’t a real database. It’s an advanced spreadsheet and follows a file-based method to handle the data flow.
Airtable’s file-based method of managing data brings too many limitations for your business scalability. The Enterprise plan of Airtable allows up to 250,000 records per base, confirming the limitations of the file-based data handling Airtable bases have.
Airtable’s record limit is tough for growing businesses that need one reliable data source. Instead, by using Airtable, they will scatter their information in multiple bases because of this records limit.
Airtable can’t be used by organizations with sensitive data or HIPAA compliance because it doesn’t have a self-hosted (on-premise) version.
While Airtable does offer a free plan, this plan has limitations on the number of records, attachments, and other features. Also, the paid plans can quickly become expensive, especially for larger teams or organizations that require more advanced features.
